ACHIEVEMENT: 20+ YEARS OF TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Warm greetings! I am Shmavon, teacher and tutor with over 20 years experience. I am excited to help students succeed in their academic endeavour. I hold Masters in English from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a PhD in Screen Arts from La Trobe University. I have taught Humanities subjects at various academic institutions in different countries. My specialisation is writing and literature, and I have taught creative and academic writing at college and high school levels. The courses I have taught range from college essay writing, creative writing, English language, literature survey and analysis, English as a Second /Alternative Language. I hold International Baccalaureate Teaching English A Certificate and I taught IB English A and B between 2013-2015.

My approach to tutoring is to understand where the student thinks they have problems and tailor the sessions accordingly. Tutoring is intense, in contrast to teaching, therefore, the rapport between the tutor and the student plays even a more important role. From each student, I try to learn and develop new methods of how to teach writing and text analysis. I have developed my own textbook I like to use for teaching writing. Besides tutoring and teaching, I engage in academic work, write fiction and screenplays, and watch soccer. I am ready to help you to improve your skills and broaden your knowledge.
